Ann Poindexter Lyons, 88, passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2024 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church at 6900 Ward Parkway Kansas City, Missouri. The visitation will be held at 3pm with a memorial service following at 4pm.
Ann was born January 6th, 1936, in Prairie Home, Missouri to Gardella Johnson Poindexter and James Gordon Poindexter. Ann taught instrumental music for many years in the Kansas City Missouri School District, including at Leeds-Dunbar, Ashland, and Bingham.
Known for her kindness, love of family, and servant's heart, Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed reading, golfing, planting flowers, playing bridge with her friends, spoiling her grandchildren, and doting on her husband. Ann’s family asks that she be remembered for the love she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert “Rick” Lyons, her three daughters and sons-in-law, Chris and Brian Auckland, Kim and Terry Terrill, and Carrie and John Rouchka all of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Bridgette Auckland, Thomas Auckland, Sam Terrill, Georgia Terrill, Lucy Rouchka, and Charles Rouchka.
