

Anna Lee Western, 94 passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016. Anna Lee was born to Willard and Abbie Murfin on November 9, 1922 in Queen City, Missouri. She had two sisters Rosalind and Barbara; two older brothers Ray and Maurice; and a twin brother Lee. She grew up in Kirksville, Missouri and attended Kirksville High School, graduating in 1940. She then attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. There she met Paul Western of neighboring Greentop, Missouri. During the war she worked at the Pratt-Whitney manufacturing plant while dating Paul as he attended Kansas City Western Dental College. They were married on June 21, 1946.
She raised four children in south Kansas City providing them a wonderful home setting, being a great cook and homemaker. She was always a gracious hostess and made people feel welcome. She and Paul were charter members of the Red Bridge Christian Church where she was active in numerous activities especially the choir.
They loved to travel and took their kids to 48 states. Later they traveled abroad to 110 countries. She and Paul took slide shows of their trips to many church, school and civic groups. Anna Lee had a very quiet, calm and reassuring demeanor, expressing confidence and trust in those she loved.
Anna is survived by her children, Dave and wife Pam, Cindy Heckman and husband Neal, Gary and wife Susan, Jill Holmes and Husband Mike; her grandchildren Megan (Alex), Ryan (Carrie), Daniel (Beth), Paul, Mark (JoHanna), Kelsey, Keegan; and great-grandchildren Maddie, Sasha and Byron.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30 at 11 am at Mount Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
