

Anthony C. Bivona, 91, of Kansas City, MO passed away October 5, 2010. Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 8:30-10:30AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1401 NE 42nd Terr., Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery, KC MO. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church 1401 NE 42nd Terr. Kansas City, MO 64116.
Anthony was born on October 10, 1918 to Charles and Lena (Mandacina) Bivona in KCMO.
Anthony proudly served his country in WWII as a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”, US Army. His service in the European Theater included the D-Day Invasion at Normandy, June 1944, where he jumped behind enemy lines to fight the Battle of Point du Hoc, the Ardennes “Battle of the Bulge” and the Liberation of Paris. He was wounded in action on Normandy Beach and received a Purple Heart.
Anthony married the love of his life, Nancy Urata, April 22, 1946, following his return from Europe. He was a carpenter by trade, retiring as a superintendent from S. Patti Construction Co. After his retirement from his construction career, he and Nancy owned and operated the Coin-Mart Laundry.
Anthony was a founding member of St. Patrick’s Church for 55 years, the Father Hagar Council 7064 Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, the Missouri Builders Association, and Carpenter’s Local 64. He was a volunteer at Liberty Hospital and Northland Alliance until his recent illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy, of 59 years, his parents, and brother, Joe “Joe B.” Bivona. He is survived by his children Charles and Loretta Bivona and Nancy Jo (Bivona) and Larry Tuso; grandchildren, Amey/Brian McAllister, Alisa/Bill VanGels, and Matthew/Kristen Tuso, and 6 great-grandchildren.
