

Arthur T. Howard, Sr., 76, Raymore, Missouri passed away March 8, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home of Warrensburg following a long illness. Visitation will be 11:00am-12:00pm followed by funeral service at 12:00pm Saturday, March 11, at Raintree Community Church, 101 SW Raintree Drive, Lee's Summit, Missouri. Burial Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
Arthur leaves his wife of 27 years, Julia Elaine Howard; his sons, Arthur T Howard Jr., Glen Howard, Michael Howard, Orlando Martinez and his daughter Kathy Howard-Crawford. He leaves his brother Jamal Saleem, his sister Dianna Carolyn Kolen, and her husband Robert Kolen. His sister Joyce Elaine Howard-Conley and his first wife Alpha D. Meeks-Howard precede him in death. Arthur leaves nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many close wonderful friends.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of James Daniel Howard and Dorthea Pearl Howard. Arthur was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas before moving to Kansas City, Missouri after his marriage to Julia.
Arthur attended Sumner High School. After graduation he married Alpha D. and they would have 4 beautiful children. During this time he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in South Carolina, the Philippines and would later see combat in Vietnam where he was wounded.
After serving with the Air Force Arthur was honorable discharged for a hardship deferment due to his first wife’s illness. Alpha D. would later pass away from breast cancer. Arthur and his mother-in-law would then raise his four children.
Arthur would use the GI Bill to attend first junior college in the state of Kansas and later transfer to the University of Saint Mary’s where he received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Business. After graduation Arthur worked for the Bendix Aviation Corporation and the IRS retiring from both. After his first retirement from Bendix he was asked to come back to work on the Y2K project.
Both Julia and Arthur were avid bowlers. Julia thought she was good. Arthur was actually good. They are both long time members of Raintree Community Church, which has been so supportive during this time.
