One special day in Heaven above,
Tiny souls sat with God, surrounded by his love.
Time Is coming soon God said, do not be scared. 
Your family waits your arrival, let us get prepared.
God looked upon each soul, in mute consideration. 
He knew the life each one would live, He weighed each situation. 
The souls chatted, wondering who they'd be. They knew the day grew nearer, to meet their family. 
How would you like to change the world, God asked each soul in fun? The chance to change a heart is held by only one.
I'll to make the world laugh, one soul said with a smile,
laughter heals broken hearts and helps us through the trials. I'll remind the world to sing, a little soul told the Lord.
My gift’s a beautiful voice; I’ll hit every note and chord. I have compassion; the next soul raised her hand. Some people just need a friend, someone to understand. As each soul shared their thoughts, their hopes and dreams, God said to them “Life is much harder than it seems”. As each soul began to leave, in a scurry of laughter and fun, Heaven became quiet, for left was only one. Come with me my child, God sighed. Do you know how many you will touch, in a world left wondering why? Before your life is over, you’ll know much strife, but you'll teach them all to cherish the smallest things in life. Some may know you in only a photograph, they'll never hold you or hear your laugh. Some may know you through words they read each day, but you'll do something wonderful, you'll make them stop to pray. This tiny soul raised his head to touch God's firm, strong hand. Father, I am ready for all you have planned, for You are the planter, I am but your seed. But what talent do I have Lord, what gift do you impart? All you need, my child, is placed in your heart. God kissed this tiny child, knowing all that he would be, and whispered as he watched him go. You'll teach them to love me.

Avelyne, I love you so much. While you were here on Earth, you brought everyone in the family such happiness. You are perfect in every way, I know you brought much joy to your mommy and daddy, as they are over the moon about you. I know you are in Heaven watching over all of us, and I look forward to the day I shall hold you again. You will always be my first granddaughter, and shall be in my heart forever. I feel so lucky to have known you, as many people all over the world felt you were their blessing as well as ours. I know you stayed with us as long as you could, and for that I am grateful. It has been a very long and trying year.. high highs and super lows.. 

After everything that has happened, I still cannot settle my stomach and have been trying to gather my thoughts... 

I wish I knew the words to say and how to express my feelings, I have been searching for a way to share through words... Especially right now, though, I am simply at a loss. I will try, but it's probably going to come out all jumbled.. bc that's exactly how I'm feeling at this moment. Confused. 

Felicia.. there is one thing I am certain of. I am so grateful to have been part of this journey with you. From the very beginning of you becoming a mom. A title that is often taken for granted, but something that you only truly understand once you earn that title. Something you will have and cherish forever. A love you never knew was possible. I prayed for you so many times, knowing that is what you've always wanted. And you not only got to be a mom, but you have been lucky enough to be mommy to one of the best.. and now to an angel. 

You have been so incredibly strong, brave, poised.... I don't know how you have managed to do so. You and Avelyne Philip have been such an inspiration to myself and so many others. That baby girl was put on this Earth for a very special reason, and I have to believe she was given her wings with an even bigger purpose. I will never understand why we were only given such a short amount of time with her, but she changed lives. She brought closeness. She was love. And the memory of her will continue on. 

Avy, again, you made my heart expand more than I knew it could. You gave us hope and joy, togetherness and love. You are still our miracle and not a day goes by without you being so deeply missed. I will forever be thankful for the times I shared with you. Love you baby girl. 


I remember being at the hospital waiting for Avelyne to come into this world. The joy and relief that swept over the room when we were told that she had arrived into the world safe and sound. Avelyne brought people together and defied the odds from day one. She had a strength within her, fighting every battle that came her way. Avelyne gave me the gift of being an aunt, I can’t wait to one day see my niece again!

Dear Avelyne,
It was an honor to know you. I met you when you were at Boston Children's,  my daughter was your neighbor for awhile. I remember when when I first saw you, lying peacefully with signs on your bed and a beautiful banner with your name on the back wall. Before I knew your mom I could tell you were deeply loved, your parents were always around you.  I know you felt their love, you were a very calm baby. Your parents amazed me by their strength in handeling everything, especially your mom. They fought and prayed hard. Thank you for bringing your mom and I together, it was wonderful to make a heart mom friend - have someone else who understands the journey and support each other. I am deeply saddened your journey on earth has ended,  I was very excited for your family when you were transferring back home as it was a sign the worst was behind you. Although your time was short on earth, your impact on us all is profound. I think of you and your parents often. I know you are looking out for your parents and other warriors.

Dear Sweet Avelyne, 

Your time on earth was brief but your impact will last forever in all the hearts of the people who met you and immediately fell in love. I was honored to meet you and for the brief time I saw in your eyes a beautiful soul who was in pain yet fighting with all her might. There is no other way to describe her other than an Angel. I cant begin to describe how sorry I am for the loss Felica and Jared have suffered. I can only hope that they will one day find peace. 

Dear Avy,
     In such a very short time, your precious little life touched the hearts of so many people. I’m not sure I have ever witnessed such an outpouring of love for such a little one. Your short life taught us so many things, not the least of which were courage and perseverance. 
     You are missed SO MUCH by your mom and dad especially, but also by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends. We take comfort in the fact that you are in heaven and that your suffering is over, but the hole you left in our hearts may never heal completely.   We miss you and look forward to the day when we can see you and hug you again. 

It was incredible to see the transition Jared made from a man to a dad. You could tell from a mile away that every minute Jared was alive he wanted to spend it with Ave. Just as the sun peaked through the trees to let us know she was in a better place, it was comforting to know she is no longer in pain. She will be greatly missed.

Avelyne was sent to you as a blessing.  In such a short time she changed your lives and showed you how to love.  There will always be an emptiness in your hearts for what might have been.  

Her short life not only affected you both but everyone who knew or knew of her.  That's a powerful thing for one small baby to do but she surely did just that.  
She earned her angel wings and now is at peace in the arms of her Creator and has been welcomed by those who have gone before her.

I personally am honored that you allowed me to participate in Avelyne's life.  I was able to be there when she was born, hold her, see her christened, attend her three-month birthday celebration and be there when she gave up her last breath.

From first time I saw your story avelyne it touched my heart and soul. You were a true warrior and fighter through every battle you faced you were so strong so beautiful. I first talked to your mother few months ago on Facebook where I saw your story and I just wanted to give my support do anything I could for my mom and dad to help them even if just talking. Every photo I saw just made me smile at how strong you were I prayed every night for your family from when I woke up to before I went to sleep. I shared your story to my friends they also prayed for you and my family.  I am so honored to share even the smallest part of this journey with you. Sweet Avelyne was such a brave little warrior who touched the hearts of so many of us, near and far. I admire both you and Jared for the way you fought right along side of her. You are the best kind of Mommy! Your baby girl was lucky to be loved by you in the same way that you were blessed to have her in your arms. It just wasn't nearly long enough. My heart absolutely breaks for you and your family. Although I never got the pleasure of meeting your sweet face, I did get the chance to get to know your mom a little bit. She is a very strong, caring woman who loves you with every inch of her being.  You would never have to doubt her love for you. You're a brave little warrior Avy and deeply missed by many people.  

Avelyne, although your time on earth was short and many people never got to meet you, know that your time here on earth has touched so many.  You have taught many not to take life for granted and cherish each and every day we are given.

     I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday, seeing your updates and praying  everyday for your strength and well being. I have never cried or wept tears as much as I have shed for you. A complete stranger fighting the good fight. While you may not have known me, I always kept you in my heart, mind, and prayers every single day. I served in the USMC and can see you’ve fought harder than I’ve ever seen another Marine fight, and I’m so proud of you. You are truly a warrior who has touched many lives through your fight, while you’ve left for the golden gates, thousands and people around the world keep your memory and story alive. Rest easy baby girl, I say this with tears in my eyes, you’ve done more than any of us have. Everyone is so proud of you, I hope there is a fountain up there as your father said you loved the sound of it. You will live on through all the members of this group, the people you’ve met, and most of all your family who loved you more than words would ever express. Rest Easy Avelyne. We all love you.

Fly high little one. You’ve already soared to higher heights than any of us mere mortals can even imagine. 

Avelyne you came as a little baby  and returned as one of the greatest Heroins that I met.  Your mission was accomplished. Thank you for all that you teached us. Go in Peace. From your friends of Brazil.

Hey,  baby girl, you dont know me at all, but I know your dad.  He is a great guy, and he told us a lot about you.  From the moment they found out you were coming, you immediately captured his heart.  
I saw how much your condition broke his heart, and I want you to know that he stayed strong for you.  Even when maybe he could have let go.   And I know that your endurance through everything, and the tenacity you showed holding on, gave him as much strength as his did to you.
I have a daughter up there somewhere, you will probably meet her at some point.  Maybe you two can be playmates?  I dont know if she is lonely or not....

I just want you to remember though, you have family and friends, some who you never met and who never got the chance to meet you.  You are loved, and you are missed.

I've been following Avelynes story from the group on Facebook and though there aren't any words that I or anyone else can post to help your family during this time, but I do want to say how much I admire the both of you.  I'm not an emotional person, I hold it together pretty well, but her story has touched me beyond anything i've ever gone through personally. I don't know if there's anything after this life, but if there is.. I know she's there and having a blast. My heart still feels shattered. I miss your snuggles and how you made your momma smile so wide. A beautiful part of this world died with you last week, but I find solace in knowing that you are no longer bound by the pain your precious little body knew. 87 days was both heartbreakingly short and incredibly long. You fought so bravely!! Thank you for giving us all the gift of love. Please keep watch over your Mommy & Daddy and continue to send them signs to let them know you are near. Dear Avelyne, I prayed for you in your mother’s womb when we found out your mommy was pregnant. I was excited to attend the reveal party your Nonni hosted for your mommy and daddy and we found out you were going to be a girl!!! What a fun and exciting evening at the McBride home!
I then held your sweet beautiful 4 pound body when you were three days old. You were sooooo tiny and soooo precious. We loved you from the beginning and still love you.  You have changed us all for the better. You taught us to love and appreciate every single day. We will forget again to appreciate, but all we have to do is whisper your name and we remember what you taught us in your short life. You taught us in 87 days what many people will never learn in a lifetime. You are a very special little girl whom we will never forget and will continue to love until we see you again. 💕

You shared Avelyne's story with me and many other fathers via the internet. I've never met you or Felicia, and I live thousands of kilometres away in Australia. Irrespective of our physical distance, I feel a tiny fraction of the enormous pain you are feeling and it has touched me deeply.

As a father of two beautiful girls I have been so clearly reminded how precious all our children's lives are by being able to learn of your story.

Avelyne will be remembered for the courageous battle she fought. While her life was too short, she experienced an incredible intensity of love and support from parents who were both there for her with all their being. You two are some of the most courageous parents ever, and you experienced something that no parent should ever endure.

While we may never meet, know that you have my utmost respect. I sincerely wish you both strength and love.

    I have followed along with the story of your beautiful daughter Avelyne. Everytime I saw and update I would get a little teary eyed. I am not a religious person but I prayed for her and you and Felica every night. I may never have met any of you but your story has touched so many people. I have no idea how much pain you and your family are in. It pains me to even think about. But I used to take my kids for granted but because of the story of your strong little girl I will never take them for granted again. She is looking down on you and your wife and she is not in pain anymore, only more love. The story of you and Felica sitting on the couch and the ray of sun coming and hitting your face was beautiful. Just to know she is watching over you both until you all meet again. Just remember God has a plan for everyone. It may be painful but it is his plan. Condolances from the Honer family to you and yours.

Jared, thank you for sharing Avelyne’s story with us. Though I never met you or her, I feel as if you all are family. You are all in my thoughts and I know that Avelyne’s light is guiding you.
