

She became a well-known hula dancer and teacher with the famed Bill Aliiloa Lincoln and the Hawaiians for many years. She also taught hula to many in Kansas City in her later life.
She met and married Dean Allen Goodale in Honolulu and shortly thereafter moved to Venice, California. Dean and Avie had three sons before divorcing. Avie raised her boys by herself working at Hughes Helicopters/McDonnell Douglas for many years. She then retired to Kansas City.
Tutu is survived by her sisters Hannah Mahoe (Sam), Diane Makekau (Abel), her brother Herman Failing, her sons, Dean Goodale, Jr. (Nancy) and Calvin Goodale (Audre’), daughter-in-law Barbara Goodale, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters.
She was predeceased by her son, Kevin Goodale , her sisters Emma Akee (Llewellyn), Mollyann Kauhi (Feet), and brother Charles Failing (Gertie).
She was loved by many, and loved all those she came in contact with.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral service at10;30 a.m. Wedneseday, June 8, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1416 S. 19th Street, Blue Springs, MO. Burial immediately following at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
