Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Ann was born January 29, 1945 in Galveston, Texas to Elton and Gladys Yancey. She attended La Marque High School, before going on to study Sociology at Sam Houston State College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. Ann spent her career working for the Federal Government in various roles before retiring on August 30, 2008 after over 38 years of continuous service.
Ann met her husband, Richard C. Schneider, while she was working at the Coast Guard base in Galveston, where he was stationed as a Coast Guard member. Although they first connected through their professional environment, it was their shared interests and values that truly brought them together. They were married on May 25, 1973. Ann and Richard settled in Overland Park, Kansas where they spent the next several years raising their two daughters.
Learning about history, visiting museums, and having her morning cup of coffee were some of her favorite things. Ann always had a great memory and never forgot an occasion with mailing a holiday or birthday card. She loved looking at pictures of her family and would light up with pride at seeing pictures of all her loved ones. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed watching classic movies, especially Christmas movies.
Surviving family includes her husband, Richard C. Schneider, Shawnee, Kansas, daughters Jocelyn Beckley (Chris), Olathe, Kansas, Kirstie Van Ry (Jordan), Kansas City, Missouri, brother Elton Willis Yancey Jr, La Marque, Texas, and four grandchildren; Connor Beckley, Brandon Beckley, Amaya Van Ry, and Elaina Van Ry.
