Barbara Haynes Schreck

Barbara Haynes Latshaw Schreck passed away September 28, 2016 after a brief hospitalization in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Memorial services were 10:30 am on Monday, October 3 at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Road.

Born February 5, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri, Barbara was the daughter of Florence and Douglas Haynes. After graduating from Southwest High School in 1947, Barbara went on to graduate from the University of Missouri. Following a career as an elementary school teacher, she married John Latshaw in 1955. Together they had three children, Constance Latshaw Jaffray, Elizabeth Albright Latshaw and Henry John Latshaw, III (who predeceased her). Amongst her many charitable works she was particularly involved with the Republican Party, and served on the board of Planned Parenthood for many years. Following her divorce, she moved to New York City. There she met and married George Schreck and moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Upon George's retirement from General Motors they moved to Vero Beach, Florida. After George's death, Barbara came back to Kansas City where she resided at Claridge Court. The family wants to thank the staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and the staff at Claridge Court, particularly her devoted nurses; Amy, Lillian, Chastity, Brianne, Julie, Lucy and Nancy.,

Barbara leaves behind her daughter and son in law, Constance and SIr William Jaffray and her youngest daughter, Elizabeth.
