She was born December 27, 1929 to John Rudolf Meili and Nancy Esther (Miller) Meili in Beverly, KS.
Barbara grew up in Beverly and graduated from Beverly Rural High School in 1947. She attended Kansas State University from the fall of 1948 to February, 1951 when she moved to Kansas City to intern at St. Luke’s Hospital in medical technology. She pursued this career at several hospitals in Kansas City from 1952 until 1980.
On December 13, 1969 Barbara was united in marriage to Charles Wesson Smith, Jr. They made their home in Kansas City. After retirement, Barbara enjoyed her time as an Avon representative. After Charles’ death, Barbara moved to Salina.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Bill Day. She is survived by her brother Jack (Lavon) Meili of Beverly and nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
