

Betty was born May 10, 1930, in Topeka, KS, to Vincent and Dorothy Hassett. In her youth Betty played softball for the DX Oilers and Bidwell’s Orphans. She worked for the Social Security Administration and after 30+ years of service retired in 1992. Betty’s passions included a keen interest in American history and being an avid fan of all the local sports teams. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and sharing her favorite stories.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother, Edward. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Wilfong, Overland Park, KS; brother, Pat (Linda) Hassett, Corinth, TX; nieces, Leigh (Bob), Shannon, and Lori (Jerry) Spohn, both of Kansas City; nephews, Rodney (Kim) Hassett and Michael (Kristi) Hassett, both of Flower Mound, TX; and many great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 21st, 11:00 a.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or Kansas City Rescue Mission, 1520 Cherry Street, Kansas City, MO, 64108.
