Betty Lou Heavener

Betty was born on January 12, 1932, to Raymond and Alberta Bahr. She was the second oldest of four children.

Betty married her high school sweetheart, Robert Heavener (deceased), on May 7, 1949. They had four children: Gerald Lee Heavener (deceased), Michael Dale Heavener (deceased) Teri Heavener], John Steven Heavener (Linda Rogers Heavener), and Dawn Kimberly Heavener O’Conner (Michael O’Conner). Her family was her pride and joy.

Betty loved playing sequence, rummy, and family visits. In her younger days you could catch her camping and enjoying the simpler side of life. She was also notorious for ice cream cone trips that came with a caution of “don’t tell dad”.

Betty was a proud member of Gregory Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alberta Bahr, husband, Robert Heavener, sons, Gerald Lee and Michael Dale Heavener, and brothers, James Otto and Raymond Bahr, Jr.

She is survived by her two children: John Steven Heavener (Linda Rogers Heavener), Dawn Kimberly O’Conner (Michael O’Conner), twelve grandchildren: Sherri Cumpton, Shawna Heavener, Mike Heavener (Amber), Jennifer Williams (Jermaine), Sandy Strunk (Danny), Robert Heavener (Stacey), Donald DJ Heavener (Kelly), Kaitlyn Schierholz, Kirsten Inscho, Krista O’Conner, Tammy Roberts, Kevin Roberts, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a sister: Janearl Shatto (Robert).

Funeral services will be held at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, KC, MO 64133 on August 1, 2025. Visitation is from 1pm-2pm with funeral services at 2pm. Interment thereafter at 3pm.
