Billy "Bill" Wayne Hendrix, born on December 19, 1941, in Odin, Illinois, passed away on September 8, 2025, at the age of 83. Bill was known for being devoted, fun, adventurous, generous, hard-working, humorous, and loving.
Bill attended Southwest High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was a football player. He graduated in 1959 and pursued higher education at the University of Kansas. Bill worked full-time at an engineering firm to support himself through college. After earning his Engineering degree, he continued working in the engineering field but soon discovered a passion for Internet Technology. He taught himself to write code and transitioned into IT, working for companies such as Compact/Digital/NLT and eventually Hewlett Packard, where his largest client was Cerner Corporation. Bill retired at the age of 71.
In 1984, Bill married Judy, whom he initially met through work and later reconnected with through family. Their marriage lasted 41 wonderful years.
Bill had a love for spending weekends on their 28-foot yacht and was an avid skier. He and Judy enjoyed traveling the world together. In his later years, Bill took up golf, which became one of his favorite pastimes.
He was also deeply involved in his community, serving as a major fundraiser for the First Hand Foundation, a Kansas City not-for-profit organization. Bill organized golf tournaments to support the foundation's initiatives.
A visitation will be held on September 17, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A committal service will take place at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, also at 10507 Holmes Road, from 1:00 pm to 1:15 pm.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his pallbearers: Don Keeling, Chris Keeling, Travis Mansfield, Mark Thompson, Cooper Snider, and Mason Snider.
Bill's final resting place will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery South in Kansas City.
