Bobbie Sue Boydston, beloved mother, grandma, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025 at the age of 77 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobbie's passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Born on January 12, 1948 in Kansas City, Bobbie lived a life defined by kindness, strength, perseverance, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. She was always there in times of need for the people she loved --- whether it was caring for her grandchildren, watching her kids' dogs, or to support her brother, a sister, or a friend. She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued!
Bobbie enjoyed spending time with family, especially on the Caribbean cruises, going to New York to see the Statue of Liberty with her kids, and all the parties over the years at her sisters' houses. She also enjoyed working in the yard, playing games like Rummikub, Wordle, and Sorry, and also piecing together puzzles.
While her kids were young, Bobbie babysat other children in her home for several years. After her kids were grown, Bobbie worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Aetna where she met a lot of wonderful people. She had many friend groups, like her friends from Gladstone that lived in the neighborhood in which she raised her kids and her hard of hearing group that met at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs.
Bobbie is survived by her children, Benjamin Boydston (DeAnna) and Gina Palma, her grandchildren, Megan Leslie (Nick), Nicholas Boydston, Brayton Palma, and Brent Palma, her great-granddaughter Emma Leslie, her brother Paul Haney, and sisters Betty Brogoto and Ernestine Koetting (John).
Ben and Gina would like to thank all the health care professionals at the KU Cancer Center and KU Medical Center for all the wonderful care they provided to Bobbie this past year.
A visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Both will occur at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. All who loved her are welcome to attend and share in honoring her incredible legacy.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Hearing Loss Association of America at hearingloss.org.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her love, strength, and spirit will live in all the people she touched! She will be missed. Our heartfelt thanks for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your memories, condolences, and gestures of love are truly appreciated.
