

Carol Jean Frazier, 79, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at the McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 3:00 pm with visitation at 1:30 pm at the chapel.
Carol was born April 20, 1936 in Carrolton, MO to Milton and Margaret (Hill) Pollard. Carol was a “caregiver” and raised her two children, helped to raise her four grandchildren and her eldest great granddaughter. She also had two other children she routinely took care of. Carol was an avid reader and loved to sew, she passed her love of books down the generations and taught (or attempted to teach) all of us to sew. As the family historian, she had the knack of oral storytelling and was able to give you a great story about most all of her family and the important dates and connections to almost anyone. Carol was also a volunteer for the Salvation Army and was a “Bell Ringer” for over fifteen years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Frazier, her parents and her sister, Vera Garraway. Survivors include her children Mona Lathery (Mark) and Rick Frazier (Karen); grandchildren, Heather Lathery (Patrick Carroll), Brittany Lathery, Ashley Donnell (Nicholas) and Kyle Frazier (Kara); Great Grandchildren, Janna Podwys Lathery and Austin Frazier; nieces and nephew, Phyllis Fisher, Martha Yonkin and Wayne Garraway.
