Carol Ann (DeMier) Haggerty, 80, passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2025. Visitation with the family will be 9:30–10:30 am with a recitation of the rosary at 10:30 am, and funeral mass at 11 am on Tuesday January 6th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet.
Carol was born on July 24, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to Louis and Lillian (Newman) DeMier. Carol grew up in Kansas City and attended Loretto Academy. She began her career with the Social Security Administration before marrying Hugh and starting a family. Carol was ahead of her time; working at home while raising a family at the same time. She began as a court transcriber, ultimately going back to school to become a stenographer, working for AAA Court Reporting and KC Bone and Joint.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, her parents, Louis and Lillian, brother, Bob, and dear friend, Patty. She is survived by her children, Connor, Darren (Barbara), Kara (Kevin) Stahl, Denny (Shawna); five grandchildren, Brandon and Easton Stahl, Corey Haggerty, Grey (Ricks) and Dean Haggerty, sister Deanna, and numerous extended family and friends.
Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend who, by example, taught us how to live a life of integrity, kindness, compassion and faith. Carol cherished her grandkids; rarely missing a ballgame or school event. In retirement, she took special pride in being able to take care of them on a regular basis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Sisters Servants of Mary, Kansas City, KS.
Her children wish to thank family, friends, and neighbors; and express their immense gratitude to Connie Occhipinto and Angela Finegan for their 60+ years of friendship that never wavered.
“Some souls just understand each other upon meeting; those are your chosen family.”
