She was born on January 23, 1934, in Danville, Arkansas, to Troy and Dovie Freeman (Noblett). Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max B. Parker; her infant son, Charles Parker; sisters Anna Jo Owens and Jeanette Hagey; and brother Bobby Freeman.
Charlene and Max made their home in Independence, Missouri, where they raised their family and built a life full of love and hard work. Charlene had a dedicated career, working for Sears Roebuck Company, H&R Block, and Apple Market Grocery. Her work ethic was second to none—she loved staying busy and continued working well into her mid-80s.
In her personal time, Charlene found joy in the simple things. She lovingly crocheted blankets for family and friends, took pride in her yard, worked her crossword puzzles and rarely missed an episode of her favorite soap operas.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Doughty of Independence, MO; son Dennis Parker (Faye) of Oak Grove, MO; and her sister Willene Mize of Colorado Springs, CO. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Christy Burton (Sang), Jeffrey Spicer, Jerry Spicer (Katie), Krystal Deen (Tyler), Cassie Watts (T.J.), Desirae Harrison (Phoenix) and Andy Spicer (Shay); twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlene's legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to her family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM, with a graveside service at 11:00 AM.
