

Charles E. Lafferty, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 12th, 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Ascension, 9510 West 127th Street, Overland Park, KS, with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 11th, at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7400 College Blvd., Ste.350, Overland Park, KS, 66210.
Charles was born January 7, 1930 in Kansas City, MO, to Charles and Nelle Lafferty. He graduated in 1948 from Bishop Hogan High School and later attended Rockhurst College. Charles served in the Army during the Korean War conflict from 1951 to 1953. He married Shirley Janet Smith on November 6, 1954. Charles worked for U.S. Epperson for 37 years until his retirement in 1992. He liked to play golf and card games.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Shirley J. Lafferty. He is survived by two daughters; Cathy (Jeff) Stroup, and Carolyn (Mark) Miebach; five grandchildren; Austin (Megan) Stroup, Amber (Joe) Tiberio, Autumn Stroup, Karastan and Gavin Miebach; five great-grandchildren; Kaden, Kally, Kirbie Stroup, Madison and Ryker Tiberio.
