

Charles Harding Rhodes (Dusty), born November 10, 1941 in Middlesborough, KY, passed away Feb 2, 2011 in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilry and Charles Rhodes, and three brothers. He was a distinguished Army veteran who was stationed in Korea and also served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Dusty was a graduate of Rockhurst University where he met many of his lifelong friends while a member of Alpha Delta Gamma Fraternity. He worked for the Dept of Justice in downtown Kansas City as a bankruptcy analyst for over 25 years. He was a season ticket holder of the KC Chiefs since 1967, and had a passion for cars, trains, model airplanes, carpentry, and also made a fantastic spaghetti sauce.
Survivors include his children, Charles Rhodes II (Brick) and his wife Courtney, Martin Rhodes and his wife Bridget, Cauley (Rhodes) Schaffert and her husband John, Anne Rhodes and her fiancé Tyler Wright. Grandpa Dusty is also survived by six grandchildren, Johnny and Madelyn Schaffert (Cauley), Andrew and Payton Rhodes (Martin), Kendall Rhodes (Brick), and Brody Pulse. He also leaves behind his former spouse, Sue Stephenson Rhodes; sister, LuCretia Rhodes of MA; and brother, David Rhodes of FL.
Services will be at McGilley Midtown Chapel on Monday, Feb 7th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at noon. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Rockhurst University, Office of Advancement, 1100 Rockhurst Road, Kansas City, MO 64110.
