Charles E. Stone, 92, passed away November 1, 2020 at his home in Excelsior Springs, MO. Charles was born March 23, 1928 the son of Walter and Mary Violet Sweeney. Charles was a WWII veteran where he proudly served in the Navy. Upon his return from the Navy, he went to work for the Norfork and Western Railroad. He retired in 1986 after 40+ years as the President of the United Transportation Union.
Charles loved fishing, hunting, boating, and anything else the outdoors could bring. He was an active member of the Warsaw Shrine Club, the Blue Lodge, and a lifetime member of the VFW post 9638 in Galmey, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie Stone, nine sisters, two brothers, and a step son. He is survived by his son, Mitchell Stone; granddaughter whom he and Bonnie raised, Jeri Bradshaw; six additional grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday November 11, 2020 at 1pm until service time at 2 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow. Condolences may be left at www.floralhills.com. Arrangements by D.W.
