Originally from Logan, West Virginia, Chris moved to Kansas City, Kansas as a young man and graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army. In 2009, Chris retired from a thirty year career in the grain industry with ADM at the Kansas City Board of Trade.
Chris will be remembered for his liberal use of duct tape, his love of fishing and woodworking, his infectious smile that would spread from his mouth, through his rosy cheeks and into his squinting, twinkling eyes, and the joy he received from bringing joy to his children, grandchildren, and especially his wife.
He is survived by his uncle and aunt who raised him as their own, Waldean and Janet Moore of Lenexa, his wife of 45 years, Estrella "Tayja" Smith, their three children, a son, Trevor, of Overland Park with his wife, Rebekah, another son, Brandon, of Roeland Park with his wife, Amber, and daddy's little girl, Kelly, of Prairie Village. Chris had seven wonderful grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's.
