

Christy “Chris” Jean Murphy, 53, of Kansas City, MO, passed away quietly on November 3, 2015. Chris was born on February 18, 1962, in Columbus, IN, the daughter of Timothy and Joyce (Kenwright) Murphy. In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her twin sister, Pam (Murphy) Winzenried, her sister, Robin (Murphy) Love, and her brother, Todd Murphy; 3 nieces and 5 nephews; and a great-nephew and great-niece. She will be dearly missed by all.
Chris graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ball State University with a degree in accounting. After her early years in accounting, she found her passion as an elementary schoolteacher in the Hickman Mills School District and obtained her master’s degree in teaching in August, 2015. She touched and influenced the lives of the children she taught and was an integral part of the Burke Elementary/Compass Program. Chris loved to travel the world and her hobbies included skiing, scuba diving and cycling, as well as her love for big dogs.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 8, from 5-7 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., Monday November 9, 2015, followed by a celebration of life Mass, 10 a.m., at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th St, Leawood, KS. Private interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Hickman Mills Educational Foundation” at Burke Elementary School, 11115 Bennington Ave, Kansas City, MO 64134.
