Maxine was born March 24, 1922 in El Dorado, Kansas to George and Hattie Pherigo. She married Ephy U. Payne, Sr on August 13, 1941 in Fredonia, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2002. Maxine is survived by her son Ephy Payne, Jr (Sharon), daughter Barbara Barnes (Leonard), 4 grandchildren and sister-in-law Louise Pherigo.
Visitation begins 10:00 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Mount Moriah Terrace Park Interment Chapel.
