Constance Raydene Liles (Connie Ray), beloved Mom…Grandma…“Ma-ma”...“Grammie”, of Independence MO, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on December 28, 2021 after complications from surgery. Connie was born March 19, 1941 in Kansas City MO, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was 80 years young.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Morgan; her husband, Wayne Liles; and her first husband Richard Slavens. She is survived by her sister Sherry Baker; son Scott Slavens and wife Donna; son Brett Slavens and wife Becci; daughter Sherri Rhodes and husband Frank; daughter Lisa Beashore and husband Larry; son Kent Liles and wife Kim; son Darrin Liles and wife Malinda; and her great delight in this world...16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Finally, by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and by many other “family members” she gathered throughout her life.
Connie spent most of her professional life as an administrative assistant in various settings, including the American Hot Rod Association and The ½ Price Store / Gordmans. However, her true legacy in this life was the love she bestowed upon anyone who had the great fortune of knowing her. She never met a stranger and gladly extended her sweet spirit and generosity to any who would receive it. She was rarely without a smile on her face to brighten your day or a kind word to fill your heart. If you were in need of encouragement, unconditional love, or just a good meal - something she could “whip up in a jiffy”, a visit to her always-open home was the cure. Her love and laughter were infectious and always accompanied by her legendary hugs, which came with every greeting and farewell. She loved Jesus, and it was obvious that He was sharing his light with the world through her. Most of all, she adored her family and treasured spending time with them. Connie was one-of-a-kind, a beautiful soul that will be sorely missed in this world. We see you waving to us now from your porch in Heaven…which is a brighter place with you in it. We love you.
A celebration of life visitation for Connie will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you follow Connie's example by using those funds to perform a random act of kindness for someone in need this week.
