Daisy B. Crone moved to her new home in Heaven on June 19, 2021. She was born October 3, 1924, to parents Elmer and Pearl Ross. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie Prather and Jennie Lee Geer, and husband of 62 years, James O. Crone. Her first job out of high school was as a bookkeeper for the U.S. Navy while she waited for her Marine husband Jim to return from combat during World War II. Their only child and light of their lives, James Timothy Crone was born Christmas Day 1950. Daisy returned to her bookkeeping career July 23, 1958, when she took a position with the Retail Clerks Union, Local 782. She remained with them until her retirement April 1, 1982.
She leaves behind her son, Tim Crone and wife Helen; granddaughters Kendra Hursman (Jeff) and Katie Lewis (Ryan); and great grandchildren Brody Hursman, Bella Hursman, Aisley Lewis and Grayson Lewis. She lived and loved life to the fullest with her family. She loved sports and was the biggest booster club fan of all of Tim’s sports – those he played and those he coached - from William Chrisman High School and Northwest Missouri State University to Washington High School in Washington, MO, Campbell County High School, Gillette, WY, Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, MO and finally Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, MO. She and Jim attended every game they could including softball, basketball, football, baseball, volleyball, and track that Tim coached and played as well as all sports played by both Kendra and Katie.
Daisy made friends wherever she went with whoever she met. She loved cooking and would bake dozens and dozens of her famous oatmeal raisin cookies to share with football team players and fans in the stands around her. She had bubble gum for the softball team at every game. She was the world’s greatest giver! She generously donated money to St. Jude’s and the ASPCA – really anything involving children or animals.
She was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, MO and of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
The family requests contributions to Timothy Lutheran Church, Blue Springs, MO, and One Community Hospice & Palliative Care, Kansas City, MO in lieu of flowers. A funeral service will be held at Timothy Lutheran Church South Campus at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. A private family burial will follow.
