
Dr. Damon William Mountford, of Kansas City, Missouri died February 8, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones. A visitation will be held from 1-3pm Saturday February 12th, 2011 at McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Damon was born Oct. 20, 1938, in Coffeyville, Kansas the son of Damon and Marnie Mountford. Damon was a primary care physician who dedicated much of his life to serving the Raytown, Mo. community. He earned a PhD in Physiologic Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1967 and was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Kansas in Lawrence from 1967-1971. He was a part of the UMKC school of Medicine’s first graduating class in 1974. Damon was a two time past president of Cellarmasters wine club, an accomplished chef and was equally passionate about fine wine and his many pets, all of whom were strays that he rescued. He travelled extensively, raced motorcycles and was an avid bicyclist. Damon is survived by daughters, Hilary and Sarah Mountford; his sister, Ann Stalzer; his brother, Carl Mountford and his grandchildren, Brennan Siobhan Paty and Damon Mateo Mountford.
