

Daniel Gordon Brock, 97, passed away September 28, 2025 at Alto Senior Living in Overland Park, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Church of the Nativity, 3800 West 119th St., Leawood, KS. (Mass will be live-streamed and can be viewed at https://kcnativity.org/onlineevents.) Preceding Mass, a Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am followed by visitation at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at Saint Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO at a later date.
Dan was born in Kansas City, MO on November 11, 1927 to Margaret Elizabeth (Ruby) Jacob Brock and Lee Marion Brock. After graduating from Lillis High School, Dan attended Kansas City Community College before deploying to Japan to serve in the Army, post WWII. After completing service, Dan returned to Kansas City and completed his business degree at Rockhurst College. He married Alicia Marie Derks on October 6, 1956 at Conception Abbey Basilica. Dan worked as an accountant for a number of companies in Detroit and Kansas City including Ford Motor Co., Colgate-Palmolive, Calvin Communications and Leawood South Country Club. Following retirement, Dan served as a guard at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Arts, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kansas City for 48 years and Church of the Nativity in Leawood for the past 13 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of fifty-three years, Alice Brock, his sister Mary Margaret (Marge) Madden, his brother-in-law Stanford Madden, his in-laws Leo and Marjorie Derks, Theodore Derks, Anna Derks, and his granddaughter, Katherine (Katie) Kimmel Baker. He is survived by his children Dr. Steve Brock (Alison) of Rockville, MD, Margaret Ann “Meg” Huber (Pat) of Edina, MN, and Laura Baker (Paul) of Leawood, KS; daughter-in-law Mary Lee Brock, his grandchildren Andrew Baker (Corinna), Claudia Brock, Etienne Brock, Mindy Huber, Nick Huber, his in-laws Ron Derks, Cathy Corral, Sharon Derks, Gary (Judy) Derks and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan loved telling stories about his younger years growing up in Midtown Kansas City. He was a lifelong Royals and Chiefs fan. In his later years he moved to Leawood Town Village and began attending Church of the Nativity parish. Dan was a man of deep faith which sustained him throughout his life. He will be remembered lovingly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rockhurst University or the Church of the Nativity.
