Daniel Arthur Metcalf

Daniel Arthur Metcalf, 60, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away August 24, 2011. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, at Mill Creek Community Church, 7825 Gleason Road, Shawnee, Kansas 66227. The family requests no flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family. Daniel was born December 5, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, son of Edward Charlie and Jeanette May (Fors) Metcalf. He graduated from high school in 1968 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had lived most of his life in Kansas. He was a U.S. Navy Air veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. On August 28, 1987 Daniel married Catherine Ellen Mundt Strickland in Tonganoxie, Kansas. He also received his PhD, Masters, and Honorary DDIV. Daniel had worked as a computer technologist in the IT industry and also as a cemetery counselor for Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. He is survived by his wife Cathy Metcalf, Kansas; mother Jeanette Metcalf; brother Dale Metcalf; sister Lois Handel; children Ronald G. Strickland, Jr. and wife, Terre, Melissa L. Riley and husband, David, Molly M. Metcalf, Mitchell M. Metcalf and wife, Chris, Mitzi M. Metcalf, Daniel P. Metcalf; grandchildren, Lucas J. Riley, Abigail L. Riley, Garrett H.
