They then moved to a farm in Klamath Falls, Oregon and as a young boy he helped with the chores around the farm. He loved the animals and he was put in charge of milking the cows. Somehow he was able to teach the cows to potty before they came in the barn and they knew they would be rewarded with a treat!
Dan then moved to Fort Towson, Oklahoma and graduated high school in 1975.
The family later moved to Clinton, Missouri where Dan opened a well known restaurant in Clinton called The Village Inn.
After a time he became a manager of Smugglers Inn in Kansas City, MO and then moved to Marie Callenders Restaurant also in Kansas CIty, MO and did some catering work.
Next came a totally different career with Buffalo Airways Cargo as a ground supervisor in Kansas City. He traveled the world up front with the pilots and kept their flight manuals organized and updated.
It was in 1993 that he met his companion David Coss. They went on to spend 28 years together enjoying each others company. Traveling in the motor home, cruises, going to the lake, tryin to see all the National Parks, and Hawaii twice. All the fur babies/cats thru the years including Gorby, Marilyn, Max, Elroy and recently Marcus were a huge joy in his life.
In the late 90's Dan took up driving a taxi. Which worked out great for him. He liked meeting all types of people from everywhere and also being a tour guide for newcomers to Kansas City. He developed many long-term friendships with the "regulars". Dan came home often with great stories from his day.
Dan was gentle and kind man with a great dry sense of humor! He will be greatly missed by those he touched in his life.
Dan is survived by his companion, David, his kitties, Max and Marcus, sisters, Charlotte (Paul), Judy (Roger), Linda (Artie), Darlene, Loretta, Dorothy, brother, Edward (Elaine) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, David and parents, Edward and Ada Ross.
