It is with profound sadness that the family of Darlene Marie Lonergan announces her peaceful passing on July 15, 2024, at her home in Peculiar, Missouri. She was 83 years old. Darlene leaves behind her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews, her caregiver, and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, a son, her parents, and siblings.
As a young wife and mother, Darlene began her life vocation as a foster parent to countless children over the decades; she was also a mother figure to international foreign exchange students along the way. She lived a life of service to others.
She did make some time to enjoy her interests, which included extensive travel, boating, sailing, water skiing and snow skiing. She also enjoyed hosting numerous gatherings of family and friends, always making sure that everyone felt welcome.
Darlene will be remembered most for her kind and generous heart, her devotion to family, her warmth, and her beautiful smile.
To commemorate her life journey and the love and light she shared, a Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2024 at 11am at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home.
