David grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Ruskin High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 20 years as an aircraft mechanic. Following his retirement from the Air Force, David attended DeVry University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Management.
David met the love of his life, Linda, in 1973, and they were married on July 21, 1973. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, family, and shared adventures. David had a deep love for music and traveling with his family, but his greatest joy was simply spending time with those he loved.
He had a gift for bringing people together—whether planning gatherings, striking up conversations, or forming friendships wherever he went. He never met a stranger and cherished the many friendships he made throughout his life. David was especially proud of his military service and the lifelong connections he formed along the way.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and JoAnn Bolton. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of the home; his daughter, Dawn DeVaul (Rob) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; and his son, Douglas Bolton (Janna) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua DeVaul (Catie) of Harrisonville, Missouri; Brooke DeVaul of Grand Island, Nebraska; Kayleigh Bolton and Zadie Bolton, both of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and his great-grandchildren, Della DeVaul, Daniel DeVaul, and Lucille DeVaul.
He is further survived by his brothers, Daryl Bolton (Denise) of Olathe, Kansas, and Dan Bolton (Jane) of Thurmond, North Carolina, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Fellowship Greenwood, 1601 West Main Street, Greenwood, Missouri 64034 on Monday, April 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, or The KU Cancer Center or the VA Hospital on Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri.
