

David Edward Ross, 89 of Overland Park, Kansas, previously of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Services will be held Monday, May 18th, 12:00 p.m. at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
David was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 22, 1925 to Anna and Evan Ross. In 1942, at age 17, David enlisted in the Navy, and served until 1946. After returning home from the war, he worked as a carpenter. In 1949, David started David E. Ross Construction, a small residential construction company. In 1951, the company changed its focus to the commercial segment – building churches, service stations, and medical buildings. During his 50 plus years in the construction business, he built over 600 service stations, 75 churches, and various other buildings. David retired in 2004. David was a skilled and talented wood craftsman and loved making wonderful gifts for his grandchildren and friends. He was a member of the Ararat Shriners & enjoyed his many friends at the local coffee shop.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Evan Ross, and his wife of 62 years, Virginia Woolery Ross. He is survived by his son David A. Ross (Patty) of Leawood, KS, and daughter Vicki Pflumm (Mark) of Overland Park, KS. David is also survived by 6 granddaughters, Michelle Ross Kelly (Eric), Allison Ross McClain (Reese), Tricia Ross Schanna (Michael), Lindsey Ross Bristow (Mark), Laura Pflumm Cerezo (Juan), Kristen Pflumm, and 9 great-grandchildren.
