Deborah H. Keenan

Deborah H. Keenan, 78, Prairie Village, KS passed away Sept. 16, 2016 at St. Joseph Medical Center. A visitation will be 4-7 pm Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Visitation Church, 5141 Main, Kansas City, MO followed by the funeral Mass at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Kansas City, 3100 Broadway, Ste #330, Kansas City, MO 64111.

Ms. Keenan was born Oct. 6, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Emmett and Berenice Hughes. She graduated from St. Teresa Academy in 1954 and attended Duchesne College in Omaha, NE. While raising her children, she earned a B.S. from Avila College, Kansas City, MO and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She worked at several state social welfare organizations, eventually becoming and instructor for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She retired in 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents and children, Mary Bridget (Molly) and Maureen. Debbie’s survivors include her husband, J. Leonard McCabe; brother, Robert Hughes; children Joseph, Patrick, Anne, Peter and Michael and 13 grandchildren.
