

Delores Ann Gregory, 77, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2010 at Menorah Medical Center, after her fourth bout of pneumonia. Delores Carter was born on May 28, 1933 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1950. In 1952, while working at First National Bank in downtown Kansas City, Delores met her future husband -- Paul Gregory, a handsome young man who just returned from serving in the Navy. Delores was the secretary for Paul's boss. Paul and Delores were married in 1953; they would have celebrated their 57th anniversary on September 12th. Delores was preceded in death by her father, Thomas H. Carter Sr., mother, Veronica Carter, and sister, Patricia Aguilar. She is survived by her husband, Paul; sister, Dorothy Richards of Grain Valley, MO; brother, Thomas Carter Jr. of Joplin, MO; sister, Judy Gaffney of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Paula of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Brenda Yuen and son-in-law Peter of N. Potomac, MD; daughter, Susan Sites and son- in-law Darren of Olathe, KS; son, Steven and daughter-in-law Laurie of San Marcos, CA; and grandchildren Kelsey Horton, Abby Horton, Spencer Gregory, Tate Yuen and Kira Yuen. Besides raising four children, Delores worked for Boatmen's First National Bank in Leawood for many years. During her retirement, she worked part- time for Blue Valley School District in the school cafeteria. Delores, also known as "Petie," was known for her feisty temperament and great sense of humor. She was an avid sports fan. She loved Kansas Jayhawks basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. Delores was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family -- especially her grandchildren and granddogs. Her family will miss her dearly and remember her fondly. The family would like to thank the 3rd floor nursing staff at Menorah for their compassionate, extraordinary care during Delores's final days. Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 19th. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, August 20th at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association.
