

Don Kenneth Nordhaus Jr, life long resident of Raytown, MO, born on 12/18/1940 to Don K Nordhaus Sr & Lucille Nordhaus, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, 1/26/2022. After fighting cancer for two years, he was feeling great, things were looking up as the cancer seemed to be going into remission. Suddenly on the early morning of Sunday 1/23/2022 he experienced, what was found to be an aortic aneurysm that was inoperable. By the grace of God, we had an additional 3 days with him to be able to say our goodbyes.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra L Nordhaus (Wooten), his son David B Nordhaus (Richell Nordhaus), daughter Tabetha L Franklin (Nordhaus)(Gary Franklin), 7 grandchildren, Julian K Nordhaus, Paulina C Nordhaus, Christopher J Nordhaus, Braeden Dempsey, Ashleigh Whaley (Dempsey), Samantha B Franklin and Allyson T Franklin. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Don & Lucille Nordhaus and his brother Tommy Nordhaus.
Ken was a lifetime resident of Raytown, MO and graduated from Raytown High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served for 4 years. During his years of service, he was submerged on one of the first nuclear submarines that kept watch overseas to protect our country and spent some time in Okinawa, Japan. He loved fishing, camping and canoeing with his family. Some of his pastimes included playing poker and cards with his buddies over the years. He was a member of the Shriner's International and the Optimist club.
Ken's funeral service will be held at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery, January 29, 2022. Visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM, Service at 10:00 AM with a Flag presentation following.
