Our Best Friend, Husband and Father, Don Petersen, passed away Thursday, October 29th, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was many things to many people, husband, father, grandpa, Gege, friend, fishing buddy, and Mr. Fixit. Our fishing boat is forever labeled “Grandpa Boat” by his grandson Jack. Don was married to Jeane Petersen for 50 years, and has two children Dan and Laurie. Don graduated from the University of Utah, where he met Jeane in the University of Utah Marching Band. Don was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy where he flew A-6 Intruder attack aircraft from the USS Saratoga. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he completed over 300 combat missions and received numerous Air Medals. He was always very humble but very proud of his military service. After the Navy, he worked in the steel industry as a representative for several companies including Armco and Steel Manufacturing. He also ran a small business with his son performing consulting work. He enjoyed fishing with his son, movies, scouting, and spending time with his 4 grandchildren, Glen, Joe, Jack, and Norah.
Don always put his family first and was never concerned for himself, always helping out or making sure the whole family was doing well. He lived for his family, helping them in any way he could. He was a great man who was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
