Donald D. Dixon

Don graduated from Topeka High School, where he was valedictorian, president of the senior class, and captain of the baseball team. He lived the bulk of his life in Leawood, Kansas, having also lived in Norfolk, Virginia, and London, England. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960.

Don met his college sweetheart, Beverly Ann Warner, at Kansas University and they were married after graduation in 1958. Their marriage was blessed with three children: two daughters, Kirby Sue Brown and Drue Ann Hickey, and one son, Bradley Warner Dixon. They enjoyed a happy family life, living the dream, augmented by extensive domestic and international travel and time at their family home in Breckenridge, Colorado. They also enjoyed a long period of membership at Broadway United Methodist Church in Kansas City.

Don attended the University of Kansas on various academic scholarships and graduated in 1957. After serving in the Navy, he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri School of Law. He was a member of the Kansas Bar for 35 years. At KU, he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa, Junior and Senior Men’s Honorary Societies, and a member of the KU varsity baseball team.

His working career was as a lawyer for the Pritchard Corporation (later Black and Veatch/Pritchard). He held virtually every non-engineering office in the Corporation, the last 18 years as Chairman and General Counsel. His work required extensive travel domestically and internationally while negotiating large petrochemical and power plant contracts for the Corporation. He visited all states in the U.S. as well as 113 foreign countries. He held several industry board positions and served as a director of three Kansas City banks. He was a past member of Mission Hills Country Club and Rotary Club 13.

His parents, three brothers (Roger W. Dixon, Manhattan, KS; Louis R. Dixon, Oceanside, CA; and Dale E. Dixon, Foothills Ranch, CA), and two sisters, Geneva L. Waters and Eunice Carroll Penner, of Kansas City, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly Ann Warner Dixon, and their three children, Kirby Dixon Brown (Kerwin), Drue Dixon Hickey (David), and Bradley Warner Dixon. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Madeline Lee Brown Bellinger (Ricky), Reid Dixon Brown, Kyle Warner Hickey, Natalie Elizabeth Hickey, and Jessica Riley Hickey, and one great-grandchild, Richie Bellinger.

Private graveside services will be held for the family.
