Donald A. Swanson passed away on January 13, 2012, at the Kingswood Manor Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri after a lengthy illness. He is survived by a cousin Marvin Swanson and wife Ann also of Kansas City. Don was born on November 4, 1926 in McPherson, Kansas where he attended grade and high schools until his family moved to Denver, Colorado. After graduating from Denver University he moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked for the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Federal Government until he retired in 1995. He then moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and later to Kansas City to be closer to family. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Anna (Berglund) Swanson of Denver, Colorado. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 19, 10:30 a.m. at Kingswood Health Center Parlor, 10000 Wornall Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Kingswood Foundation.
