Doris was born December 4, 1931 in St. Louis, MO. She married the love of her life, John E. Hoag, on September 29, 1951. While raising ten children, she attended and graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and worked as an RN for a few years. She left her job to travel with her husband. She was a member of Visitation Parish for 25 years before moving to St. Thomas More Parish. Doris was an avid volunteer; most importantly, she was a Lady of Charity for over 35 years. She served on the National Board of LCUSA as President for 4 years, followed by an extended term as representative to the International Board of AIC. She enjoyed reading, quilting, golfing, playing bridge, dominos, dancing and traveling; most of all, she loved being surrounded by family and loved a good party. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother were her most important roles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank G. and Gladys M. (Kulla) Cerpiot; brother, Alan Kobelt; grandson, Alex Hoag; and son-in-law, Ron Farris, MD. She is survived by her beloved husband, John Hoag and ten children, Suzanne (Roger) Johnson, Carole Petty (Jeanie), Anita Farris, Jeanne (John) Devero, Barbara (Kevin) Mullane, Mary Jo Briones, Ruth (Barry) Rowe, Libby (John) Herring, Michael Hoag, and Jimmy (Jenny) Hoag, 37 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
