Dorothy May Turner, 81, passed away February 20, 2018. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1 at Floral Hills Funeral Home from 1:00pm - 2:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Dorothy was born on January 6, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Joel and Mildred Land. She graduated from Central High School and later married William H. Turner in 1956. She was a lifetime resident of the Kansas City/Independence area, serving as a church secretary for several churches in the area. Dorothy served as a volunteer at Truman Medical Center East for many years. She enjoyed her job as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother most of all. Those preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brothers, Gene Land, Lester Land; sisters, Eva Lundberg, Louise Taylor. Survivors include her brother in law, Jack Taylor; children, Joel Turner and Debra (Charles) Mann; grandsons, Chris (Nadia) Mann, Blake (Kayte) Mann; great grandchildren, William River Mann, Lyla Mann, Alana Novotany. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City Union Mission or the Samaritan's Purse.
