Doug Siren, 61, was born September 8th, 1951 and died at home Tuesday, May 21st, 2013 surrounded by many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father Dick Siren, Mary “Granny” Johnson, and nephew Shaun Siren.
Doug resided in Overland Park, Kansas. A retired sheet metal worker of twenty-five years, Doug spent the last thirteen years working and living on Briggs Sod Farm where he could more freely enjoy his love of nature. Sundays were devoted to riding in his golf cart and viewing the various wildlife on the acreage. Doug’s adoration of animals was especially devoted to the feral cats that he had spayed or neutered then tamed and put up for adoption. Every morning, Doug could be seen leading a parade of cats to breakfast. Another hobby of Doug’s was pellet guns which, appropriately, never conflicted with his love of animals. His collection of pellet guns remains vast and impressive. He also loved to hunt for arrowheads his collection is extensive and he loved to show them to anyone visiting the house. Doug loved dancing and deeply appreciated an eclectic variety of music. Doug’s life was full and rich; he made infinitely better the lives of those closest to him.
