

Judy Warren died Jan 30, 2016. She is the daughter of Rosemary and Vernon Kenny. Judy grew up in St. Louis, MO until her Junior year in high school. She graduated from St. Theresa’s Academy and later, the University of Kansas in 1969. One week after graduating from KU, she married the love of her life, John “Mike” Warren. They were married for 47 years.
Shortly after her wedding she started her career as a Spanish teacher. Then, she took 10 years off to raise her three boys. She returned to St. Theresa’s Academy in 1983 as a Spanish teacher and soccer coach. From 1990 to 1995 she taught Spanish and was the head track and field coach at St. Thomas Aquinas. Later, she assumed the role of principal at St. Ann’s grade school and then St. Mary’s High School in Independence, MO. Judy then went on to become the superintendent of Catholic schools for the Kansas City - St. Joseph Dioceses from 2000 - 2007. Her last role was principal of Bishop Ward High School.
Judy was also a board member for numerous charitable, educational and religious organizations. She earned her masters degree from Baker University in 1989 and her doctorate of education, Ed.D., from The University of Kansas in 2003.
Judy is survived by her parents, her loving husband of 47 Years, John “Mike” Warren, 3 sons, Danny (Kari), Jeff (Shelly) and Patrick, four grandchildren, Stacey, John, Matthew and Annie, 2 sisters, one brother and a large and loving constituent of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Cure of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, KS at 4 PM on Tuesday, Feb 2nd. Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed, Feb 3rd at 10 AM, with graveside services to follow. Please send monetary donations to Bishop Ward High School, in Kansas City, KS, where a scholarship in her name will be established.
