
Edith F. Hammond, 88, passed from this life on August 18, 2011. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., on Monday, August 22nd, at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Graveside service held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, at Mt. Washington Cemetery with burial to follow. Edith was born on December 8, 1922 in Centerview, MO, to Charles Markham & Maude Ellen Black. She was the 11th child out of a family of 15. Shortly after her high school graduation she married Ulysses Eugene Hammond on May 31, 1941. Edith is preceded in death by her husband; a great-granddaughter, Brittany Marie; her parents; 4 brothers: Henry, Charles, Had, & Bob; and 9 sisters: Lizzie, Lula, Nellie, Ella, Lucille, Edna, Merle, Alma, & Faye. She is survived by 2 daughters, Janet (Jim) Talbert, of Sedalia, MO, & Ellen Lorene (Leonard) Draves, of Independence, MO; 5 grandchildren: David (Janet) Talbert, of Blue Springs, MO, Philip (Cindy) Talbert, of Pensacola, FL, Bruce (Katie) Talbert, of Webster, NY, Ruby Draves, of Independence, MO, & Joy (Branden) Draves- Dreher, of Kansas City, MO; 9 great- grandchildren: Michael (Bekah) Talbert, Tiffany (Randy) Ollila, Brandon, Tara, Breann, Kiley, Matthew, Meaghan, & Andrew Talbert; a sister, Doris Markham, of Warrensburg, MO; and numerous nieces & nephews.
