EDNA VIOLA PICKETT Edna Viola Pickett, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening February 25, 2015, surrounded by her family. Prior to the birth of her children, Edna worked for the Long Lumber Company and Unity Village. While her children were at home, she was a homemaker and after they left the home, she worked for the IRS. She retired from the IRS after 25 years of service. Edna enjoyed travelling with her husband, Griffith, playing bridge, planting flowers, volunteering and spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Dolly McNutt and granddaughter, Ashley Anne Giesselman. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Griffith Pickett; children and their spouses: Griffith R. (Randy) and Janet Pickett, of Kansas City, MO, Karen and Carl Giesselman, of Scottsdale, AZ, Ronda and Bill Richey, of Lee’s Summit, MO; siblings: Dorothy Carpenter and Everett McNutt; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Memorial tributes may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Funeral service will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Floral Hills. Burial will follow.
