He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 7, 1947 and resided there throughout his life. He attended St. James Grade School, graduating in 1961. From there he went on to Rockhurst High School where he made a name for himself in sports. He graduated in the class of ’65. Ed went on to attend Rockhurst College where he furthered his sports career. There, he was in the graduating class of ’68.
After graduation, Ed pursued a career in insurance, particularly insurance for long haul trucking. In his later years he worked at Price Chopper.
Ed’s love of life centered around three things…LOVE OF SPORTS, family and friends. In that order!
He excelled at basketball volleyball, softball, golf and swimming. And, his love of the Chiefs and Royals could be described as fanatic!
Ed was a cherished friend who enjoyed getting together for “Miller Time” or a “Miller Bash” to celebrate life with others. Later in life, his Irish heritage and Catholic upbringing brought out a softer side with a special devotion to the rosary and his favorite prayer, The Memorare. Ed will be missed, but his legacy of life will live on.
A Visitation for Ed will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, then followed by a Funeral Service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
