

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friday, October 27, 2017 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., KCMO. A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Red Bridge Church of Christ, 101 West Red Bridge Rd, KCMO.
Born on May 31, 1923 in Dallas, Texas, she is survived by her four children and their spouses (Greg and Susie Harnden, Gayle and Wayne Hawley, Gloria and Bill Schutz, and Mack and Chris Harnden), her nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was married to her late husband, Glen "Bud" Harnden, for 65 years before his passing to be with the Lord in August 2008.
Effie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas and attended for three years Abilene Christian College (now University) from 1940-1943. She was voted the "Most Favorite" of her class each of these three years. Soon after her marriage on July 3, 1943, she and Glen moved to Kansas City where they resided until January 2000 after which they moved to Searcy, Arkansas. In Kansas City she was faithful member of the Red Bridge Church of Christ. In recognition of her enormous faith and commitment to prayer, the Red Bridge Church dedicated a "Prayer Room" in her honor. In Searcy, she was faithful member of the College Church of Christ.
As a faithful child of God, Effie devoted her life to sharing the love she received from Jesus with all whose lives she touched as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and the best friend that anyone ever had.
In Lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Benevolent Fund of the Red Bridge Church of Christ, 101 West Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64114.
