Born September 9, 1957, she was the fourth of five children to Suzanne and James Estabrook, Elaine grew up in Kansas City surrounded by a big, lively family who shared laughter, stories and a deep love for each other.
In 1981 Elaine married Scott Hunter and from that union had 3 beautiful children, Sarah, Jennifer, and David Hunter. Those early years of being a mother were some of Elaine’s proudest accomplishments. Though life brought many challenges, Elaine remained a woman of great spirit and generosity. Always ready with quick wit, a warm smile and a strong cup of coffee.
Elaine did not always have an easy road in life, but despite everything she never stopped caring deeply for those around her. She had a tender heart, a great sense of humor and a stubborn streak that made her unforgettable.
She leaves behind a family that loved her deeply and is grateful that she is now at peace. Elaine’s memory will live on in the stories we share and the quiet strength she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her children and grandchildren. Sarah (Sierra, Serene, and Antonio), Jennifer (Mea, James, and Mariah), and David (Davi and Ellie), her brother James Estabrook, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Suzanne Estabrook, brother, Steve Estabrook, sister, Mary Shugrue, and younger sister Annie Estabrook.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Visitation starting at 2pm and services at 3pm. The family invite you to join them at Johnny Cascones immediately following her service to celebrate her life and those who loved and cared for her.
