

Elbert “Bert” Bridges passed away at his home Saturday, September 17th, 2011 from complications with diabetes. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born in 1950 to Elbert Bridges, Sr. and Dorothy Mangrum Bridges. He grew up in Mississippi and settled in Jackson County, Missouri in the 1980’s. Bert was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. He participated in the Christian Business Men’s Committee and was a children’s leader for Bible Study Fellowship International. He was also a life member of the Harley Owner’s Group and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. His early education in drafting lead to a lifelong career in land surveying. Bert was a Registered Land Surveyor and local business owner of Bridges Land Surveying and recently purchased the 159 year old Harvey A. Jones Engineering Company out of a love for the history of the surveying profession. He was preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Dorothy Bridges. He is survived by his wife Karen, daughters Katherine and Erin Rose, his grandson Isaac and his brother Everet Bob Bridges and sister-in-law Tina of Newton, Mississippi and nieces Nicole, Brittany, and Hallie.
