Eloise was born in Valentine, Nebraska to Martin Miller and Winifred Camm. Early in her life her family lived and farmed in South Dakota, and a few years later she remembered the long trip on a train when her family moved to Cabool Missouri as a teenager. She met and married her love Russell Hemphill in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple purchased and settled in a home in the, now historic, West Plaza neighborhood and had two children, Shirley and Russell Jr.
Eloise enjoyed her life as a homemaker and raising her children. She loved children and brought many into her home day care. One of her most cherished hobbies was crocheting and knitting. She loved playing board and card games with her grandchildren.
Eloise had one of the sharpest minds and her memory was second to none. Passing time with crossword puzzles and word searches would simulate her mind and relax her soul. She loved to communicate to others whether it be pencil and paper on letterhead, or more recently, through text messages and Facebook. Each and every day she would spend time reaching out to friends and family. She would reach out to share her companionship, her love, and her prayer.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Winifred and her two brothers, Charles and Raymond.. Also preceded by her husband, Russell and her son, Russell Jr.
Eloise is survived by her daughter, Shirley Thompson and her three grandchildren, Christopher, Joseph, and Nichole. Also survived by her seven beautiful great-grandchildren.
