Elsie Strothmann

Elsie Marie Strothmann, 93, Wathena, KS, formerly of the Kansas City metro, passed away December 26, 2010 at the Wathena Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30 at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, MO at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 at the chapel. Elsie requests no flowers. “I have had more dandelions from the hands of small children than I ever had roses.” Please make a contribution for her grave marker.

Elsie was born October 14, 1917 in Wellington, MO to John Oscar Strothmann and Emma Soendker Strothmann. Elsie’s life was spent in the service to others. She spent 10 years in Columbia, MO caring for children before coming to Kansas City in 1949 to the home of Drs. A.L. and Jane Johnson. She was the caregiver for their children, Dr. Alfred (Tamara) Johnson of Dallas, TX, Mark (Linda) Johnson of St. Joseph, MO and Jane Rohs of Surprise, AZ. She became an LPN in 1955 and helped in the Johnson Clinic as well as their home. Her later years were spent in the home of Drs. Carl and Jan Myers caring for their children Brian and Katie. Elsie is survived by a host of friends and family who love her and will miss her sweet smile and kind words
