Butch was always so positive at work. He would always stop me in the lot at Olathe ford and ask how I was feeling. He never complained to me about his issues. He will be always remembered as a very caring and personal friend.

Butch and I worked together for the same company for the past three years. We shared many common interests. We palled around over dinner recipes that we shared, stories of our favorite wilderness/hiking locations and always touched a little bit on our religion. When Butch got sick, I always asked for updates on his condition. Every time I asked, he would assure me that he was 'not scared to die', that he 'loves Jesus', and was certainly 'going to Heaven' when his day came. Anytime Butch was bored at work or needed a break from the heavy lifting he was always doing, he knew he could find a friend in me with as many minutes of conversation as he desired. Today, I feel like I could listen to him tell war stories for hours. I'm not sure I'll ever meet somebody with same conversational repertoire that he had, and I'm really going to miss that. My most sincere condolences go out to his family, who were truly blessed with a lifetime's worth of Butch.

I only worked with Butch 8 months but he was always happy and loved sharing stories and recipes with us.  He is already missed and I pray that his family will feel a sense of comfort through this difficult time. 

I worked with butch at olathe ford for 5 years. He was the kind of man we all wish we were. Always a positive look at things and just generally a funny guy. Ill greatly miss our conversations and shenanigans. Wish for peace for his family and friends and hope he is reunited with his daughter he was always so fondling talking  of. Ill miss tou butch! Until we meet again my old friend!


We were neighbors for many years. We cherish the memories of a wonderful family.  Our kids were close in age. Butch was born 3 days before me (Mike) Our thoughts are with you at this time. 

Emmet and I worked together for many years, several of them on the same crew.  He always had stories and history lessons, mostly about WWII tanks. He was always happy and glad to give a fellow Firefighter the”chicken wing” after a good joke. He was a tough EMT student but he knuckled down and earned his EMT certification and did well in the field.  He held many a Firefighters life in his hands as he would operate the engine at fire calls.  He will be sorely missed.  Our sympathies to family and friends. 

Our heart breaks for all of you. I don’t know where to even begin. When Rodney and I went on the road we lost touch with a lot of people, no excuse. Butch and Donna were the first friends we met when we moved to Estes Park. Donna was shopping for pizza ingredients in the little Mom and Pop store we ran and her and Rodney got talking, Donna invited us for supper and that’s how our friendship started. We got together at least twice a week and did all sorts of things together. Many memories of our kids playing together. We also went to church together. The last time we got a urgent message was the news about Kimberly which was shocking just like to hear about Butch because we wasn’t aware he had cancer. I have loved seeing photos of Brads children going to all the national parks, they must all have got that from Butch and Donna. We would go to Rocky Mountain National Park a lot to hear the elk bugle. We enjoyed taking the kids to Casa Bonita all the time and just lots of places. I imagine the heavenly bagpipe players welcomed Butch when he went to join the Lord and Kimberly. Our prayers are with you Donna, Brad and family. We know you will have a empty place  in your heart but may all the cherished memories fill it up. Rest in The Lords presence Butch till one day your family and friends will see you again.. love to you all Donna and Rodney

I only worked with Butch for a short time. As has been said he was one of a kind. I know in my heart that if there was anyone in need Butch would be the first one there to help. I worked with him at Olathe Ford. He would always ask how the rest of us were doing, even though he was dealing with so much. He always thought of others first.To his beloved family please accept our condolences. He is going to be deeply missed, but think about all the laughter he brought.

Emmett, "Butch" Hull was one of a kind! He and I were on the same crew at the fire department for many years.  Butch often drove the firetruck and liked to drive far right of the center line. I used to tell him "hey Butch there's a ditch over here"  to which he'd always reply with a Scottish accent, " I got her under control Captain hold on for worp speed!" A line he stole from "Scotty" on Star Teck. Butch loved to read books on his free time, mostly about Scottland or WWII. He had a vast knowledge of Scottland, WWII and loved to talk about his two favorite subject with everyone.  Building models of planes but mostly WWII tanks was a hobby Butch enjoyed. He loved showing off his latest completed project with pride and enthusiasm with all of us at the firehouse.  My favorite memories of Butch is when he would put on his kilt and march  in the apparatus bay playing his bag pipes. His, "Screaming Bag of Cats", as we'd referred them too just because we thought it would get him fired up. But it didnt, he'd play on with pride. When he was done Butch would smoke his pipe and tell his stories; with his Scottish accent,  of bag pipping, Scottland, the Highland Games, Colorado and the Broncos. Butch loved being a fireman, his Scottish heritage, being a Broncos fan but mostly his wife Donna, kids Brad and Kim. My deepest sympathy Donna, Brad and the entire Hull family. Emmett had a kind gentle soul and a heart of gold which made the world a better place! Butch my friend, I'll miss you.  May God bless you soul.

Donna, I worked with you long long before I worked with Butch.  I recall all of the funny things you shared about him. They always made me laugh.  Then I got to work with him.  He WAS funny.  He had a heart of gold and would give his shirt to anyone.  Whomever needed help, he offered.  I am so sorry this happened to you. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I worked with Emmett for many years on A shift and later at the administration building as he provided support to the organization. I will miss his laughter, perspective, and the stories he would tell. So sorry for your loss. - Tim Richards
